Nine high school students from the Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) BEACON and Mount Tom Academy programs explored Greenfield Community College’s career pathways in health careers, outdoor leadership, manufacturing and HVAC, on a visit led by the GCC Workforce Development team; and got a first hand look at how those programs work. They also got to test their skills on the GCC Rock wall. The experience was just one part of how the BEACON program is supporting students to think actively about their future directions and careers.

Said Max Fripp, the BEACON Program Director: “Building on this experience, four of our recent graduates will be participating in a month long manufacturing class, at GCC, positioning them to secure in demand manufacturing careers in our region.”

Believing Every Adolescent Can Open New doors (BEACON) is an alternative education program of CES, currently enrolling Franklin County 11th and 12th grade students who are still enrolled in school, but at high risk of dropping out.
