Music for Everyone

Building a Musical Community in Your School

Election Day PD circle red, white, blue graphic
Offered by:
Professional Development

Description

Everybody can sing and be musical, but it can be difficult in today’s culture to convey to students that you don’t need to be a professional musician to make music. This workshop explores strategies and ideas to help strengthen an “Active Music-Making is for Everyone” philosophy in the foundation of your classroom, school, and your school community.

We will discuss developing a shared repertoire of songs in your student body, building traditions that are beloved by the school community, tips for your band students, the importance of a curriculum that serves the students (wherever they may be in their musical abilities), and of course share songs and music and movement activities! There will also be a break out session to develop, discuss, and share ideas from your own teaching experience.
