Kristen Burke is a literacy consultant and former classroom teacher. Kristen has seven years of experience teaching grades K-2 and has consulted in grades K-6. She earned a BA in Elementary Education and Psychology in 2006 from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, VT.  In 2013 she earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Framingham State University while teaching second graders at Hemenway Elementary School. While teaching at Hemenway, Kristen became a Lab Teacher as the Teaching and Learning Alliance brought Reader’s Workshop to their ELA program. As the Lab teacher, she modeled lessons for other teachers in the school and then observed and gave feedback as they learned this new teaching strategy. She led professional development, staff meetings to help guide the school through this transition, and taught a course about Academic Talk. In 2015, the Teaching and Learning Alliance hired Kristen as a literacy consultant. Kristen’s love of teaching and literacy has helped her to grow as a strong coach and leader.
