Our ideal candidate will value professionalism, positive youth development, and culturally responsive teaching. Classes are small and teachers should have a highly personalized approach with a focus on academic and behavioral success. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, as well as a secondary level Massachusetts teacher license in Math or Science. CES is pleased to announce an opportunity for short term research associate which will investigates both STEM education to career models via literature review and Hampshire County High School specifically. Areas of focus of the research include proven strategies for integrating STEM programming (including internships) at the high school level. We are interested in understanding how schools effectively integrate STEM career development activities in their schedules, regardless of whether or not they have a whole-school STEM focus. Questions of interest include the impact of school schedule (including after school offerings) on STEM programming; effective tactics for recruiting nontraditional students to STEM careers; proven supports for non-traditional students entering STEM careers; what is known about the role guidance counselors play in helping students and parents make well-informed choices about STEM career opportunities and continued training after high school. Topics should include training strategies for underserved populations (women, people of color) to successfully enter and continue employment in STEM fields where employees frequently encounter racism or gender bias.
