Content Areas of Practice:
Our team of specialists and facilitators draw on successful preK-12 experience in urban, rural, and suburban schools, and have special expertise in engaging ELLs, students in poverty, students receiving special education services, and vulnerable youth.
Among our content areas of practice:
Our talented specialists assist schools, districts and educators in special education areas encompassing inclusion in the classroom, transition, IEP and education team leadership, curriculum development, and assistive technology. We work with and provide training and coaching for general education and special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators.
CES helps schools, particularly those that may have a small or low incidence of English learners, to address the regulations and the learning needs of this population within a whole school/district context. Schools may be experiencing dynamic shifts in their populations of English learners. We can offer expertise in school-wide tiered supports and intervention with the English learner (EL) population, and new ways of thinking about and working with ELs and their families that support optimal performance in school.
Our literacy consultants provide a variety of comprehensive literacy-centered services that help professionals to understand underlying theories of literacy growth and development; identifying and providing training on educational practices leading to enhanced student performance in reading, writing, and oral language development. CES provides schools and school districts with expertise in the evaluation and assessment of struggling learners and training in research-based, successful reading and literacy interventions.
CES works with schools and teachers to help assess needs and deliver customized K-8 professional development opportunities. We emphasize the successful teaching of the Massachusetts Mathematics Frameworks, with a particular focus on struggling learners.
Emerging America offers professional development, curriculum mapping and design, data support, and online curriculum resources for K-12 teachers to engage students in learning history and social studies. We help educators to utilize local and national primary sources that bring history to life and develop critical thinking skills, a vital part of the Common Core standards.
CES offers coaching and instruction in technology-enhancing blended and personalized learning, G Suite (Google Apps for education) training from Google certified trainers, instructional design for high-quality online teaching, and technology infrastructure assistance. Our consultants and trainers can help you to assess needs in your school or district, and will tailor a program of training, coaching and consultation to meet those needs.
These are difficult times. For schools and districts responding to their students' needs with an increased and intentional focus on matters of bias, social justice, and equity, CES offers specialized training and facilitation as well as technical assistance for developing a plan to implement change in your organization. We do this work proactively and purposely, understanding and taking action together to understand the ways we are differently impacted by sexism, classism, heterosexism, transgender oppression, religious oppression, ableism, sizeism, and more.
Based on our work with the Low-Income Education Access Project (LEAP), CES offers training on brain-compatible teaching and learning; school and classroom culture and climate; family and community engagement, and related topics.
