This course provides an overview of the research and best practices for assessing, planning, problem-solving and implementing individual, classroom positive behavior support. Students will examine evidence-based strategies for conducting an effective Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and a Situational Analysis that includes gathering data and analyzing behavioral patterns, unsolved problems, and lagging thinking skills. The results will be used to problem-solve with the student and implement an Individual Behavior Support Plan.

Cost and Registration

The cost of the workshop is $100 for member districts, and $110 for non-member districts. Register online or download and mail the registration form, available on the right side of this page.

  • Martha Harrington

    Martha Harrington is a veteran special education teacher and consultant retired from the Brookline Public Schools. Martha is a  frequent CES adjunct faculty member and instructor. She has a B.A. from Wheelock College and an M.Ed. from Lesley University.

A maximum class size is set for each course and registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. If the number of registrations for a course exceeds the maximum seats available or is too low to be able to conduct a quality learning experience, the Collaborative will inform you of available options.

Course Cancellation

If you wish to cancel your registration, please submit a request in writing (via mail, email or fax) no later than 5 business days before the workshop’s start date. After that, there are no refunds or billing adjustments.
