Marcela Simpson

Marcela Simpson has been offering her expertise in the field of early childhood education for the past three decades. She firmly believes that all children deserve equal opportunity to receive high-quality education at programs where educators and families engage as a team to advance their learning outcomes. Marcela’s awareness of diversity stems primarily from her own immigrant experience and her work as an educator and workshop facilitator working with diverse audiences; this has been significant in her role as a coach, mentor and observer. Marcela co-authored the Early Learning Standards for Infants and Toddlers for the state of Massachusetts. She is part of different initiatives throughout the state to help support educators in their classrooms and those with family childcare programs. As the Director of Innovative Foundations for Early Childhood Educators, she designs, delivers and coordinates professional development both in English and Spanish, which meets the needs of a diverse workforce in the early childhood settings from public school, early childhood special education, to the private business of home-based child care. She has presented at national conferences, like NAEYC and Zero to Three.
