Increasingly, schools and districts seek to undertake equity audits for a range of different reasons. However, conceptualizing and conducting equity audits can present a plethora of challenges and dilemmas for school leaders, especially in small- and mid-size districts. In this course, a team of school data and equity professionals will help participants:
- Understand what is typically meant by the term “equity audit”
- Become familiar with a range of approaches that can be taken to equity audits
- Understand the research methods and approaches that can and can not be used in small- and mid-sized districts
- Learn to draft guiding questions for equity audits/inquiry questions appropriate to small- and mid-size districts
- Understand the opportunities and limitations of traditional data collection and analysis
- Learn how to apply a range of Street Data approaches to help answer equity-related questions
- Identify the school/district-level factors that can support or constrain equity audits
Participants will demonstrate their learning by producing an equity audit draft plan for their school or district.
