Using NotebookLM in Controlled Environments: No Hype, Just Help: AI Series for Educators

Home E Events E Using NotebookLM in Controlled Environments: No Hype, Just Help: AI Series for Educators

The No Hype, Just Help Series is a series designed to give educators practical, grounded knowledge about AI without the breathless headlines or the panic. Register for one workshop in the series or all of them.

This is the fourth in the series.

Using NotebookLM in Controlled Environments

Ever wish you could hand a pile of documents to a tireless assistant who would read everything, answer your questions, and actually show their work? That is essentially what Google NotebookLM does, and in this session you will get to try it for yourself.

NotebookLM is one of the most educator-friendly AI tools available right now because it stays grounded in the sources you give it. No mystery sources, no wandering off-topic, no black box. Just your materials, made more accessible and useful.

In this hands-on session, you will explore a ready-made Notebook, build one of your own, and walk away with a clear sense of where this tool genuinely helps and where your professional judgment still needs to lead.

No prior experience with AI tools required. Come curious.

This session is part of the No Hype, Just Help: AI for Educators series. You are welcome to join for this session only or register for the full series.

This work is fully funded by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) under the U.S. Department of Education, through a recently awarded University of Washington grant (AmplifyGAIN), and is offered at no charge to educators.

CES is offering eight stand alone 75-minute workshops taking place synchronously online, for all educators, administrators, and school or district specialists. Each workshop combines direct instruction with structured peer dialogue and applied practice such as analyzing AI outputs, testing prompts, and evaluating instructional use cases. This is not product specific, and we are not hyping a specific product.
