Because transition services are guided primarily by IDEA 2004 regulations, this training may be of interest to people across the United States and US Territories, though we anticipate that many participants will be from a variety of Massachusetts schools.
Participants who may be interested in joining this series include:
- Transition coordinators and case managers
- Special education teachers serving students in transition-focused high school and postgraduate programs
- Principals, administrators or related service providers who want to know more about transition services for students with disabilities in other districts
Content will be developed in response to participant needs and requests and shared 1 week prior to each month’s session. The intended outcomes of this training are to learn about best practices, current research, funding and guidance for transition; get to know each other well; and assist each other by discussing problems of practice and collaborating to explore possible solutions.
We may:
- Share practices that support students who are in transition-focused programs
- Share practices and resources that help the families of these students to prepare for the transition from school
- Share resources (services, funding sources) that help students to bridge from school to life in the community
This training is a year long series consisting of 8 sessions. Synchronous sessions are scheduled on Mondays from noon – 2pm (EST) and will be on Zoom. Participants will receive 15 PDPs in special education if they complete 2 hours of training each month by participating in all sessions. Asynchronous make up materials will be made available if a participant cannot attend all synchronous sessions. Group members will be part of an email list and are encouraged to share resources, successes, and problems of practice with one another in between meetings.
