Open Registration and Site-Based Offerings
These include workshops and courses scheduled throughout the year for teachers, administrators, and specialists; as well as training required of content teachers of English Language Learners by the Massachusetts Department of Education. Our workshops are designed to enhance instructional skills and offer ELL PDPs for recertification.
CES helps schools, particularly those that may have a small or low incidence of English learners, to address the regulations and the learning needs of this population within a whole school/district context. We can offer expertise in school-wide tiered supports and intervention with the English learner (EL) population, and new ways of thinking about and working with ELs and their families that support optimal performance in school. While much of our work is based in Massachusetts and our instructors include Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education approved RETELL & WIDA Instructors/Trainers, we have also provided professional development and speaking engagements nation-wide.
Massachusetts Focused Topics:
- SEI endorsement (Commonly referred to as RETELL).
- Introduction to WIDA DESE-approved, 2-day introductions to WIDA (World Class Instructional Design & Assessment).
All of our professional development is designed to create a shared vision of achievement and can be presented at your site. Courses may be taken for PDPs; some programs also offer optional graduate credit.
Licensure and Graduate Courses
CES also offers graduate level coursework, Massachusetts approved teacher licensure preparation for an initial or additional license in ESL, and extended professional growth for licensed ESL and highly qualified teachers of English language learners.
Professional Learning Community
CES hosts and facilitates an active ELL PLC, covering working topics and projects for teachers, administrators and specialists.
