776 Algebra Online is an online course for students developed by the Collaborative for Educational Services through a federal ARRA grant awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
The course covers the same material as a year of high school algebra. Learning is self-paced; there is no set time frame, but most students complete the course in a little more than a semester.
776 Algebra online is specifically designed to meet the needs of learners who learn best:
• At their own pace • With engaging interactive audio and video explanations and exercises • With one-on-one support from a certified math teacher
Students take control of their learning:
776 Algebra Online allows students to decide what and when they learn. A certified math teacher helps your child set up an individualized Learning Plan/Contract, which will guide their studies. As long as they can get to a computer, they have instant access to the course and to the Algebra Online instructor. They can also interact with other classmates who are learning the same material.
Students choose tools to suit their unique learning needs and styles:
With a wide variety of interactive audio and video exercises and lessons available for each topic, students can choose and explore the tools that best suit their own unique learning needs and styles. Using the Learning Plan/Contract as a road map, they focus on the topics they don’t know or need more support in, and spend less time on the areas in which they know well. Students progress to the next topic only when they can demonstrate their learning, so they learn at their own pace.
Students sharpen the skills they'll need to graduate, and succeed in college or career:
776 Algebra Online helps students gain the math skills they need to pass MCAS, gain credit they need to graduate from high school and/or accelerate their proficiency in Algebra. Students who find success in an online learning format are often those who may have struggled or failed in a traditional classroom setting. Success in algebra gives students the confidence to learn higher level mathematics.
