No Hype, Just Help: AI Series for Educators

The No Hype, Just Help Series is a free workshop series designed to give educators practical, grounded knowledge about AI without the breathless headlines or the panic. Register free for one workshop in the series or all of them by clicking on the individual workshop titles below.

This work is fully funded by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) under the U.S. Department of Education, through a recently awarded University of Washington grant (AmplifyGAIN), and is offered at no charge to educators.

CES is offering eight stand alone 75-minute workshops taking place synchronously online, for all educators, administrators, and school or district specialists. Each workshop combines direct instruction with structured peer dialogue and applied practice such as analyzing AI outputs, testing prompts, and evaluating instructional use cases. This is not product specific, and we are not hyping a specific product.

Each workshop takes place from 4:30 – 5:45 PM, online.

April 29, 2026: Every educator is expected to have an opinion about AI. This session is about making sure that opinion is an informed one. You don't have to be excited about it, but understanding how it actually works positions you to make good decisions for yourself, your students, and your school. We'll pull back the curtain on the technology behind today's most talked-about AI tools. May 11, 2026: In this interactive, jargon-free session, we'll look at the environmental costs, the labor behind the technology, the tools designed to feel like companions, and the quiet ways AI is already embedded in decisions that affect real people. We'll also look at what happens when these systems get things wrong, and why finding someone accountable can be harder than you'd expect. May 13, 2026: You already know how to ask good questions, read a room, and push back when something doesn't feel right. Effective prompting isn't about learning magic words or secret syntax; it's about clarity of thought. In this hands-on workshop, we'll apply the professional instincts you already have to the AI tools showing up in your planning time, your inbox, and your school conversations. You'll practice communicating clearly with AI tools, staying in control of your work, and evaluating what comes back with a critical eye. No prior experience required.
