Title VI / Civil Rights Coordinator Training

Home E Events E Title VI / Civil Rights Coordinator Training

Understand Your Responsibilities. Strengthen Compliance. Create Equitable Schools.

Federal civil rights laws require schools and districts to ensure that students have equitable access to educational programs and opportunities regardless of race, color, or national origin. This focused two-hour professional learning session is designed for Title VI/Civil Rights Coordinators and school and district leaders responsible for preventing discrimination, responding to concerns, and supporting compliance with federal civil rights requirements.

Through practical examples and school-based scenarios, participants will strengthen their understanding of Title VI responsibilities and develop strategies for identifying potential concerns, responding appropriately to complaints, and creating systems that support equitable access and nondiscrimination.

Civil rights compliance is more than responding to formal complaints. Participants will explore how everyday school and district practices—including discipline, access to programs and advanced coursework, family communication, extracurricular opportunities, language access, and school climate—can raise important civil rights considerations.

Using realistic scenarios, participants will practice identifying potential concerns and determining appropriate next steps.
