Leading the Nation

What is Leading the Nation, and why are we celebrating now?

While Massachusetts has always had a strong commitment to education, the state's public schools have been recognized as national leaders on many fronts in recent years, thanks to the hard work of teachers, students, families, and communities.

The 2018 Leading the Nation campaign coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Massachusetts Education Reform Act, which increased and stabilized state aid to districts, established common learning expectations statewide, and made it easier to see where schools were doing well and where changes might be needed. Massachusetts' recent successes reflect an enduring bipartisan commitment to those principles.

The Role of the Collaborative for Educational Services in Leading the Nation

On behalf of our member districts, we have joined Leading the Nation. Through our Proud of Western Mass. Public Schools social media initiative, we are reminding our communities - educators, parents and families - about the great work happening in our public schools in the region. Every day, professionals in our public schools deliver innovation, teaching excellence, and accountability to the students and families here in Western Mass. We hope to bring together the voices of our parents, educators, and community members, to celebrate and support the excellence of our public schools and school districts.
