CES COVID-19 Response

Updated: May 4, 2020

COVID-19 Update

CES and our host agencies are committed to ensuring the safety and health of staff, students, stakeholders, and our community. We are closely tracking updates and recommendations issued by DESE, EEC, MDPH and the CDC.

Ongoing Professional Development

CES is assessing each of our Professional Development/training events against our protocol to identify whether they can continue to be held or need to be rescheduled or cancelled. In each case, the most current information about whether an event will continue can be found on the event's page on this website. Please check your event webpage first to identify its status. In addition, our CES Events Managers will be notifying event registrants via email if an event experiences a cancellation or a digital option has been put into place.

CES also created a series of free digital professional development workshops that were scheduled during the March 30 - May 1, 2020 timeframe. These are now all at capacity, and we want to thank all the attendees, our CES consultants and moderators, and everyone involved in this undertaking! Please check back soon for our upcoming Summer Professional Development offerings, which all be delivered in an online format.

At this time CES Curriculum and Instruction Specialists Laurel Peltier and Sharon Jones are also hosting weekly two hour zoom meetings for IEP team leaders, from 11:30-1:30 every Wednesday. Please contact lpeltier@collaborative.org if you are interested in sitting in.

Licensure Programs

Face-to-face meetings will be held virtually for the remainder of the spring semester, and through the summer. Summer Licensure courses are currently open for registration.

Early Childhood Department

CFCE Puzzle of Parenting Workshops are cancelled until further notice.

Playgroup and Familly Centers  are providing learning and enrichment experiences online and via local access television. Please contact your coordinators for details.

After School and 21st Century Learning Programs

CES After School and 21st Century Learning programs are hard at work developing virtual enrichment activities for our students, to take place during the same hours as their traditional after school programming. We hope to start these activities, in every program by mid April or earlier. We've been polling families to identify their ability to access virtual activities, and identify where assistance may be needed. For more information, please contact their site coordinator. Please see a listing of sites here.

HEC Academy and Mount Tom Academy

While these program locations are currently closed, we continue to provide education to our students. At Mt. Tom, learning is supported by Google Meet and APEX Learning. At HEC Academy, enrichment materilas have been provided, and clinicians are working to monitor student well-being. Staff from both programs are reaching out to students, phone calls are made daily, and staff are in touch with families both for support and to connect them to services. Our Mount Tom staff, HEC Academy team, Online/Digital Learning Team, Special Education professionals, Assistive Technology team and our Related Service Providers to build and enhance learning that will be fully delivered in an online/remote environment as we move forward.

Occupational Therapy Center (OTC)

The OTC is currently closed.

Enhanced Cleaning Protocol

CES has implemented additional cleaning measures for disinfecting in accordance with Massachusetts Public Health guidance. This includes routinely cleaning desks, work tables, conference tables, workstations, countertops, and doorknobs and providing disinfectant wipes in shared spaces.

We have ample cleaning supplies that will be also available to staff and visitors in the common areas, meeting rooms and kitchen. We have also purchased alcohol based hand sanitizer, non-alcohol based for programs with restrictions, and disinfectant wipes to prevent spread of germs and to protect the health/safety of both employees, students, member agencies and participants attending CES sponsored training.

CES Online Learning Team to Offer Assistance to Schools and Districts

As the CES Online Learning Team  works (remotely for now) to develop new workshops and courses for you, we also recognize that educators throughout our region are themselves working hard to deliver more learning online. Providing high quality digital options for enrichment and learning to students can be daunting.

Our team is available to district administrators or teachers to answer questions around technology integration and online learning.  As we hear about challenges, we'll provide one-on-one or small group support via Zoom or Hangouts.

Schools and districts can submit their requests via the Online Learning Support Request Form.
