CES COVID-19 Response

Updated: March 27, 2020

COVID-19 Update

CES and our host agencies are committed to ensuring the safety and health of staff, students, stakeholders, and our community. We are closely tracking updates and recommendations issued by DESE, EEC, MDPH and the CDC.

Free Online Professional Development

At this time of uncertainty, CES Professional Development consultants have prepared a series of free online workshops that can be taken from March 30 through May 1, 2020. We're excited to be able to come together now, more than ever, to support you in your vital work with students! See the full listing of workshops available here.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

CES is assessing each of our Professional Development/training events against our protocol to identify whether they can continue to be held or need to be rescheduled or cancelled. In each case, the most current information about whether an event will continue can be found on the event's page on this website. Please check your event webpage first to identify its status. In addition, our CES Events Managers will be notifying event registrants via email if an event experiences a cancellation or a digital option has been put into place. CES has also created a series of digital professional development workshops that we will offer free of charge during the March 30th - May 1 timeframe. Please click on the button to the right to learn more about registering for free online PD.

CES After School and 21st Century Learning programs are hard at work developing virtual enrichment activities for our students, to take place during the same hours as their traditional after school programming. We hope to start these activities, in every program by mid April or earlier. We've been polling families to identify their ability to access virtual activities, and identify where assistance may be needed. For more information, please contact their site coordinator. Please see a listing of sites here.

  • CES Licensure Programs face-to-face meetings will be held virtually for the remainder of the spring semester.
  • HEC Academy and Mount Tom Academy are currently closed.
  • CFCE Puzzle of Parenting Workshops and Playgroup meetings are cancelled until further notice.

  • Occupational Therapy Center (OTC) is currently closed.

Enhanced Cleaning Protocol

CES has implemented additional cleaning measures for disinfecting in accordance with Massachusetts Public Health guidance. This includes routinely cleaning desks, work tables, conference tables, workstations, countertops, and doorknobs and providing disinfectant wipes in shared spaces.

We have ample cleaning supplies that will be also available to staff and visitors in the common areas, meeting rooms and kitchen. We have also purchased alcohol based hand sanitizer, non-alcohol based for programs with restrictions, and disinfectant wipes to prevent spread of germs and to protect the health/safety of both employees, students, member agencies and participants attending CES sponsored training.

Social Distancing Measures

  • For most Professional Development events, we will be offering a virtual option. If this is the case for an event you were planning to attend, you will receive an email from a CES Events staff member with a link to access the training.
  • For events that will still take place in person, we will be limiting capacity and increasing venue space to maintain the recommended three-feet spatial separation.

CES Online Learning Team to Offer Assistance to Schools and Districts

As the CES Online Learning Team  works (remotely for now) to develop new workshops and courses for you, we also recognize that educators throughout our region are themselves working hard to deliver more learning online. Providing high quality digital options for enrichment and learning to students can be daunting.

Our team is available to district administrators or teachers to answer questions around technology integration and online learning.  As we hear about challenges, we'll provide one-on-one or small group support via Zoom or Hangouts.

Schools and districts can submit their requests via the Online Learning Support Request Form.
