The transitions to Pre-K and kindergarten are a time of both excitement and stress for families with young children with disabilities. Supporting families during this time is key to their engagement in their child’s education. Family engagement in early childhood education improves outcomes for children with disabilities. By researching, understanding, and applying evidence based practices for developing meaningful communication and positive relationships with families, school districts can more effectively meet the needs of young children with disabilities.

Strategies for Students with Learning Differences and Disabilities
The Collaborative for Educational Services, through its Collaborative Center for Assistive Technology and Training (CCATT), will provide a 45-hour year-long content institute on the topics of: quality indicators for assistive technology (QIAT) practices for students with learning disabilities from grades 4-12; assistive technology processes, use, and integration within the curriculum; accessible instructional materials; and, universal design for learning (UDL).
