Reassuring and Responsive Care: Early Education in a Changing World

Description

The intersection of the COVID-19 Pandemic and increased awareness and reactions regarding racial injustice is the perfect storm for increased anxiety in our communities, families and children. Early childhood is an ideal time to build positive foundations and to foster understanding and compassion. Strategies to address children’s anxiety and to maintain reassuring and culturally responsive programs will be discussed.

This session addresses Massachusetts Core Competency 2: Guiding and Interacting with Children and Youth.

This 1.5-hour, fully online workshop is offered on Zoom.  If you have not used Zoom before, please review these participant instructions.

  • Practice Session: October 14, 2020; 6:30pm - 7:00pm

Practice Sessions are an additional optional session, included in many of our workshops this year at no additional cost. These facilitated sessions will deepen and broaden the learning from the workshop by offering a place for Q&A and to share and reflect on the information learned, attendee experiences related to the topic, resources, and challenges or successes with integrating the new knowledge into your practice.

    Dana Lee Mengwasser serves a dual role as Child and Parent Educator and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant at CES. Dana is an EEC Certified Infant/Toddler Teacher and an experienced mediator, facilitator and youth educator. They previously worked as an Executive Director for a small community center serving youth and families in Franklin County.

Registration

A maximum class size is set for each course and registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. If the number of registrations for a course exceeds the maximum seats available or is too low to be able to conduct a quality learning experience, CES will inform you of available options.

Course Cancellation

If you wish to cancel your registration, please submit a request in writing (via mail, email or fax) no later than 7 business days before the workshop’s start date. After that, there are no refunds or billing adjustments.

In the event that a course is cancelled by the Collaborative for Educational Services, we will notify you as soon as possible. Please be sure to provide your best email address and phone number so we can contact you. Although every effort is made to avoid last minute cancellations, if an emergency arises, we will do our best to reach you at the phone number and email address you provide.
