The Collaborative for Educational Services is excited to partner with The Buck Institute for Education (BIE) for the Project Based Learning Institute. This four day workshop will begin with “a project slice” which demonstrates what it’s like to be a learner in Project Based Learning, by engaging participants in an immersive PBL experience — a “slice” of a project that models the key features of the PBL process. Schools and districts can use it to build shared understanding of PBL in a staff or school community.

The next three days will be PBL 101; BIE’s foundational workshop based on their model of Gold Standard PBL. It provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to design, assess, and manage a rigorous, standards-based project. The workshop models the project process. Facilitated by one of BIE’s expert National Faculty, PBL 101 is a balanced blend of direct instruction, video analysis, hands-on work, resource sharing, and peer collaboration and feedback. Participants are actively engaged in project design, with the expectation that every teacher or teaching team will generate a project plan for their own use.

BIE is dedicated to building the capacity of teachers and school leaders to design and facilitate quality Project Based Learning. “All students - no matter where they live or what their background - should have access to quality Project Based Learning to deepen their learning and achieve success in college, career and life.”
