Ashley Martins is a native of Western Massachusetts. She holds a B.A. from the University of Vermont in Political Science and History, and an M.Ed. from Fitchburg State University in Curriculum and Instruction. Her passion for working with English Language Learners began during her work with the Embassy of Afghanistan in Washington, DC where she mobilized community outreach programs for the Afghani immigrant population. She has spent extensive time living and traveling abroad. She began her public teaching career as a 3rd grade SEI teacher at Homer Street Elementary School in Springfield, MA. Ashley currently works as an ESL Specialist for the Agawam Public Schools District. During the summer months, she coordinates a Global Consul program for international students at Wilbraham Monson Academy. She has been a part of the RETELL initiative in Massachusetts since 2014. On a personal note, Ashley is a new mom of a baby boy named Wesley, an avid swimmer, and is currently working towards her yoga instructor certification.
