Description

Join Laurel Dickey in taking a closer look at close reading in the elementary school classroom. We will consider how close reading fits into the Massachusetts English Language Arts Frameworks, ways to increase student engagement, and close reading’s role in helping to develop students’ comprehending of increasingly complex texts. Connections to classroom events and assessments such as interactive reading, writers’ workshop, and the Benchmark Assessment System (BAS) will be explored.
