Description

7 in 10 teachers report having at least one student in their class with a parent, guardian or sibling that died in the past year, and describe the following issues in their classroom: grieving students with difficulty concentrating in class; decrease in class participation; lower quality of work; and increased absenteeism. The Garden: A Center for Grieving Children and Teens in Northampton, MA has been working with grieving students in local schools for over six years.

Participants will learn about how the developmental stage of students affects grief reactions, hear engaging examples of classroom discussion topics and activities, and receive a book list for grieving youth of all ages.
