The Collaborative for Educational Services, through its Collaborative Center for Assistive Technology and Training (CCATT), will provide a 45-hour year-long content institute on the topics of:  quality indicators for assistive technology (QIAT) practices for students with learning disabilities from grades 4-12; assistive technology processes, use, and integration within the curriculum; accessible instructional materials; and, universal design for learning (UDL). 

This institute is designed to help school and district personnel understand and utilize best practices for the consideration and assessment of, and implementation processes for assistive technology that will enable students with a wide range of learning needs and abilities to access the curriculum and to enhance their learning. 

Audience and Grade Level

Teachers, Grades 3 - 12

This institute is open to individual educators and/or teams from the same school. Teams are encouraged to include a special educator and a regular educator. Please note--individuals applying as part of a team must have students that all team members serve, as this is a requirement for course projects.


67.5 PDPs or 3 graduate credits will be awarded to participants upon completion of this institute. Graduate credit is available through Fitchburg State University at an additional cost of $335. Graduate credit registration and payment occurs at the first section meeting, and payment can be made by credit card or check at that time.

    Erin MacEachen-Travis, M.Ed. is a learning disabilities specialist who has worked with CES since 1998. She has presented locally and nationally on using assistive technology for students with learning disabilities, and has been a regular instructor for DESE statewide Assistive Technology courses.

A maximum class size is set for each course and registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. If the number of registrations for a course exceeds the maximum seats available or is too low to be able to conduct a quality learning experience, CES will inform you of available options.

Course Cancellation

If you wish to cancel your registration, please submit a request in writing (via mail, email or fax) no later than 7 business days before the workshop’s start date. After that, there are no refunds or billing adjustments.

In the event that a course is cancelled by the Collaborative for Educational Services, we will notify you as soon as possible. Please be sure to provide your best email address and phone number so we can contact you. Although every effort is made to avoid last minute cancellations, if an emergency arises, we will do our best to reach you at the phone number and email address you provide.
