CEDU-Center for Education Data Use

We live in an age that is rich with information and data.
Educators use ever increasing amounts of data to learn about their students,
evaluate their own work, and plan ways to meet the needs of their schools and communities.
Educators Using Data Together
The Collaborative has established the Center for Education Data Use, or CEDU, to support schools in exploring new ways to use data to inform, guide and improve instruction.
CEDU SERVICES
- Professional development and coaching on:
...The Massachusetts Education Data Warehouse
...Collaborative data use (data teams)
...Data collection and integration
...Data interpretation and appropriate use - Support for staff using data, reports, and data procedures
- Consulting for:
...Systemic data use
...Custom reports
...New data collection
...Reporting systems that meet local needs - Regional collaboration among school districts
There are many ways educators can use data to monitor student progress and inform instruction. CEDU supports the unique ways each school district uses data in their work, and we tailor our services to meet your needs. Schools working with data are highly successful when educators work collaboratively to get the most out of the data tools and analyses. Working in collaborative teams helps educators to:
- Identify meaningful questions and evidence
- Reflect on the nature and interpretation of the data
- Plan actions
- Monitor their practice
Collaborative teams develop norms that facilitate discussion, increase knowledge, uncover unintentional biases, and hone the skills of educators. We encourage collaborative teams to engage in an ongoing cycle of inquiry that identifies problem areas, verifies causes, and creates solutions that are effective and long lasting.
CEDU WORKSHOPS
In addition to ongoing support through coaching and consulting, CEDU offers a variety of workshops designed to address the most common issues that we encounter as we work with teams of educators. The Collaborative has been approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to administer standard Data Warehouse training modules.
We offer:
- A series of workshops on effective ways to use the Data Warehouse
- Workshops on accessing, understanding, and evaluating student growth data,
as well as workshops tailored to the needs of collaborative data teams - Custom workshops designed to meet your specific needs and challenges around
the Data Warehouse or any other information-related issue
