Age Range: Students ages 16-21
The goal is for students to live as independently as possible and become productive participants in their communities when they transition into work-based and other adult services.

Designed for students with developmental disabilities and/or moderate intellectual impairment, the school-year CBWE Program provides supervised school-based and community-based work experiences, along with related instruction in functional life skills and academics.
Activities focus on developing appropriate communication and social skills as preparation for eventual competitive or supported employment.
The program provides educational opportunities that address each student’s learning abilities. Each student participates in small group and individualized instruction throughout the day across all curriculum areas.
Related services are incorporated based on individual student needs. A weekly clinical consultant is provided for the program throughout the school year.
CES Functional Life Skills programs are unique in that Adaptive Physical Education is built into each program, and 2-3 Special Olympics events are organized each year. Our highly experienced staff is responsive to the needs of students and they communicate regularly with parents and sending school districts.
CBWE is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 2:15pm.
The program is located at Northampton High School, 380 Elm Street in Northampton.
Supervised by the Program Coordinator, the staff includes a Special Education Teacher, a Vocational Supervisor, Paraprofessionals and Specialists. Additional 1:1 support may be provided at the request of the referring school district.
