In this two-day seminar, teachers and administrators will learn to collaboratively develop, test, and refine common formative assessments in order to gain reliable and timely feedback on student progress in order to adjust instructional practices appropriately.

About the Summer Academy
The Franklin-Hampshire County Professional Development Team is in the process of planning for the 2012 Franklin – Hampshire County Summer Academy.
Our dates are the last week of July and the first two weeks of August; July 23-August 10.
Our goal is to provide high quality, cost-effective professional development, accessible to Franklin and Hampshire County educators.
As in the past, Franklin and Hampshire County educators and community members are invited to serve as facilitators and presenters. Our county is rich in professional expertise. Summer Academy is a terrific opportunity to share what works, learn together, and form professional learning communities that will extend into school year success.
Topics typically include skills and information of strong interest to teachers, administrators, and specialists working in a standards-based environment. Our schools share a common interest in working with local resources and organizations to increase student engagement and career and college readiness; we invite presentations that will build and sustain these partnerships.
Presentations that build our teaching toolkits and our technology skills are extremely helpful. Audience is preK-12. Participants’ roles range from classroom teacher or building administrator to specialist, nurse, speech pathologist, and music, art, and physical education teacher. Program length varies from a half-day overview to multiple day programs. PDPs are awarded for programs ten or more hours in length, for which a demonstration of learning is an expectation; facilitators of PDP-bearing programs are expected to assess student learning via a pre/post test sequence or review of a product.
