The Math Path

What is Math Path?

Math Path is a team of trainers and consultants who partner with teachers and school leaders to improve student learning mathematics. Our team has many years of classroom experience, as well as cutting-edge knowledge of math curriculum and content, supplementary materials, and teaching strategies that align instruction to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core Standards.

Our Approach
We believe that every student can learn mathematics. Our approach focuses on principles that are grounded in research and many years of successful practice:

  • A thorough and ongoing assessment of school data with a team of educators highlights underlying barriers to student achievement. Math Path consultants partner with educators to develop a system for accurate and collaborative assessment of a school or district's need in mathematics. A plan for professional development formulated with teachers and administrators builds on school strengths and addresses need areas in mathematical instruction and curriculum.
  • When teachers understand the cognitive and cultural experiences of their students, they are better able to help them overcome barriers to learning. Students have different learning styles and strengths. Math Path consultants help educators understand and improve learning in mathematics for all students.
  • Teachers who have a wide range of curricular tools and techniques are better able to differentiate learning and teach struggling math students. Math Path provides hands-on and other engaging techniques that teachers can use the next day in their classrooms. We work with educators to align their curriculum to Common Core Standards.
  • Opportunities for collaboration and reflection create a learning community that promotes increased learning and continuous improvement of instruction. Math Path weaves collaborative reflection into all of our work with educators, and we encourage educators to integrate the same skills of collaboration, critical thinking, and communication into their work with students.
