An eLearner Coach assists students by helping them work towards becoming self-managing, self-monitoring and self-modifying learners. In other words...to becoming more self-directed learners which are skills every student needs to succeed in school and in life.
The Coaching eLearners course is an online course for teachers and other staff who work with distance learning students who may need extra support to stay on track with their learning. The course will help you learn how to work with any student at risk of failing. You don’t have to teach math or even be a certified teacher, you just have to want to help support the distance learner.
Through Coaching eLearners, you learn how to:
- Recognize different learning styles (and understand your own)
- Motivate learners who struggle to stay focused
- Work with new distance learning Web 2.0 technologies that engage today’s students
- Help students learn time management skills
Take the Coaching eLearners Course and you will get:
- 30 hours of online professional development.
- 45 PDPs or 2 Graduate Credits from Fitchburg State University FSU*

The 8 week course is designed for professionals actively working with students in schools, distance learning, or other supportive settings. The course focuses on implementing the Self Directed Student Learning Process. Weekly assignments and activities are highly interactive, and include lively online discussions. Weekly journals and assignments are required each week.
