Building Relational Culture
The Transforming Education for Social Justice Regional Initiative, funded in large part by the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts, is designed to equip and support PK-12 educators to create learning environments that support engaged and empowered learning for all young people in Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden Counties.
As part of this initiative, we are pleased to invite you to apply to a unique professional development opportunity for K-12 educators and administrators. This day-long experiential training is an opportunity for teams of four or more to gain practical tools for building a transformative, relational culture in the school environment, and to build community among colleagues.
Relational practices foster empathic listening, mutual support and interdependence, essential ingredients for any community seeking to embody transformative social justice values. By creating a culture of belonging, these practices are a powerful strategy to address bullying, a key behavior that perpetuates social injustice and systems of oppression rampant in school culture and society at large. The workshop is designed to empower teachers and administrators with tools to shift school culture, training participants to facilitate simple, accessible relational practices among both students and colleagues.
