On this page, you'll find training descriptions, dates, and locations as well as Massachusetts Core Competencies addressed. Trainings are one session (two training hours) unless otherwise noted.

  • One-Session trainings are $25 each
  • Two-Session trainings are $50 each


Our provider trainings meet from 6:15 to 8:15 pm (all Westfield trainings meet from 6 to 8 pm except on November 29, when training meets from 6:15 to 8:15 pm).

Reflective Practice for Early Educators

Learn how to keep the joy of being with children at the heart of your work. Reflective teachers share meaningful experiences with children and understand how to make effective decisions about how to respond and how to plan for children's learning.

Examining our Response to Challenging Behavior
Core Competency addressed: 2

We will address the most common barriers that each of us may have to successfully working with children's challenging behaviors. Helpful for providers of all ages.

Early Childhood Behavior Planning 101
Core Competencies addressed: 2, special needs

Learn key components in putting together and implementing an effective behavior plan, how to measure success, and when and how to involve parents and specialists. Participants should come prepared to start planning for a child in their care.

Understanding Temperament
Core Competency addressed: 1

Let's consider what temperament is and how understanding its importance can help us work more effectively with our own and children's behavior. Helpful for providers of all ages.

Sense and Sensibilities: Sensory-Based Interventions
Core Competencies addressed: 2, special needs

Understand how sensory-based activities and interventions can benefit children with emotional regulation, attention, and learning concerns. Helpful for providers of all ages.

Books Make a Difference (2 sessions; 4 training hours)
Core Competency addressed: 5

Learn ten ways to examine picture books for misinformation and stereotypes in Session 1. In between sessions, participants examine books from their own collections. Session 2 focuses on interactive ways of sharing books with children.

Indoor and Outdoor Play Spaces (2 sessions; 4 training hours)
Core Competency addressed: 5

Consider ways to transform early childhood environments into settings that provoke intellectual engagement and a sense of belonging. Colorful slides and provocative questions encourage new ideas and thoughtful discussions.

Working with Families Lab: Sharing Experiences
Core Competency addressed: 3

We all know the importance of working with families in terms of a child's long-term success. Share and receive collegial support and concrete assistance with concerns, conflicts, and/or challenging situations. Helpful for providers of all ages.
