CCATT Center
The Collaborative Center for Assistive Technology and Training (CCATT) is nationally known as a leader in the field of assistive technology, and its staff has been working with individuals, families, and professionals since 1995.
Assistive technology evaluations are conducted by a multidisciplinary team of specialists with extensive experience in alternative and augmentative communication and adapted curriculum solutions. Students ages PreK-22 have the opportunity to evaluate devices, software, and hardware. Consultation services are available.
Customized consulting services help schools implement programming to maximize participation and inclusion and assist students in meeting IEP and curriculum goals through the use of technology. Staff training may be arranged to introduce the latest in adaptive/assistive technology and augmentative communication.
Workshops and courses using both Windows and Macintosh platforms offer educators, professionals, and parents the opportunity to explore a variety of assistive technology tools. For districts that own Kurzweil 3000 software, HEC can provide teacher training to facilitate the successful implementation of this tool.
HEC's Professional Learning Communities include an Assistive Technology group that meets monthly at the CCATT Center during the school year. There is no charge for participation in the group, which is facilitated by a member of the CCATT staff.
