Ongoing need for all subject areas and all areas of the state. Applicants should have college credits/degree and/or experience working with nontraditional students.

Technical Vocational Education Coaches Intermittent hours, as needed, year round.
Unique position for retired or former vocational educators: Orient and coach teachers in the Department of Youth Services’ juvenile justice programs on how to use self-contained modular vocational kits with their students. The education modules cover topics of carpentry, electricity, painting and design technologies, plumbing, etc., and include lesson plans, student guides, tests, books, videos, software and equipment appropriate for the unit. Modules will be moved between programs in different areas of the region every 6 weeks or so. The candidate must have exemplary skills and broad experience in construction curricula; ability to lift 50 lbs; reliable vehicle and willingness to travel to programs. Ideally we would like to have coaches in each region of Massachusetts. Help us to help students to explore their ideas about career choices.

Dynamic leader needed to coordinate the 21st Century Community Learning Center after-school program in Amherst, which strives to support high academic achievement through a diverse array of programming. The Site coordinator is responsible for fostering a positive relationship with high school faculty and administration, working with them in the daily management of program design and implementation. Other key responsibilities include the hiring, training, and supervising of staff; ensuring fiscal and programmatic records are maintained, including data collection for state reporting requirements; and working closely with school-day staff to recruit and serve students most at-risk of academic failure. The successful candidate will have a minimum 3 years of previous experience in managing programs for youth and a bachelor’s degree, preferably in education. The position is for 19 hours a week starting September 1, 2010 through August 31st, 2011. Interviews to start immediately.

The coordinator is also responsible for ensuring fiscal and programmatic records are maintained, including data collection for state reporting requirements, and for working closely with school-day staff to best serve at-risk students. SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER (2010-2011 School Year) SPED – Northampton, MA
Licensed special educator for a substantially separate special education classroom within a public school. The prevocational program focuses on functional academic, communication, and life skills for students aged 12-16 who have a range of cognitive impairments, including autism spectrum disorder. The successful candidate will have 3+ years of experience in student program development/implementation, and supervision of a team of paraprofessionals. Masters level degree preferred.
