Benefits of working for the Collaborative include:
- Group Medical & Dental Insurance
Full-time employees are eligible immediately for health and dental insurance for themselves, their spouse, and any children in the family. The Collaborative will pay an amount equal to 50% to 75% of the cost of the "traditional" plan currently offered, based on the coverage type selected (e.g. single, family etc.) and years of service with the Collaborative. Voluntary supplemental benefits are available for accident, cancer, and dental insurances. - Disability Insurance
The Collaborative provides long-term disability income protection in the event of a non-work-related illness or injury that extends beyond 90 calendar days. This insurance is offered at no cost to the employee. Short-term disability and pregnancy leaves are generally covered by the Collaborative's generous sick leave policy (1-1/2 days earned per month, cumulative to a maximum of 180 days). Voluntary short-term disability protection is available for full-time employees who need it. - Life Insurance
The Collaborative provides life insurance coverage in the amount of $10,000 for full-time employees. This insurance is offered at no cost to the employee. Voluntary group term life insurance protection is available for employees as well. - Flexible Spending Accounts
The Collaborative makes available pre-tax flexible spending accounts for full-time employees. $5,000 per year can be earmarked to offset dependent care expenses (child or elder care). After one year of service, employees can put $200 - $2,500 per year aside to offset uninsured medical, dental and vision expenses. - Leave Time
Classroom staff employed for the school year or extended school year follow the vacation schedules established in the school calendar. All other employees, administrative and clerical, are entitled to two to five weeks paid vacation, based on years of service. Full-time employees are entitled to three (3) personal days each year. A generous sick leave benefit is available to insure the health and safety of students and staff. Accumulated days may also be used to care for ill or injured family members. In such cases, the provision of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) will apply when appropriate. In addition, employees are offered up to three (3) days for a death in the family and leave for jury duty summons. - Retirement Programs
Our employees do not make contributions to Social Security. Instead, employees contribute to one of the Commonwealth's plans for retirement. Employees who work less than 20 hours a week are enrolled in an OBRA plan, where they contribute 7.5% of compensation; teachers and other eligible professionals are enrolled in the Massachusetts Teachers Retirement system; and all other employees participate in the Massachusetts State Retirement System. In addition, all employees are eligible to contribute to one or more voluntary deferred compensation programs, where they can save from $10 and up each pay period toward their future financial security. - College Savings Programs
Employees are welcome to set up payroll deductions for voluntary programs such as Section 529 plans for college savings. - Employee Assistance Program
Employees are eligible for short-term counseling from the Wellness Corp. at no cost for themselves and immediate family members. This program is outside of the Collaborative and completely confidential. Support and referrals are available for work or family matters, debt counseling, legal problems, stress-related issues, substance abuse, etc. - Training and Development
Employees participate periodically in training activities and are encouraged to avail themselves of professional development opportunities.
