About the Collaborative
A New Collaborative
HEC has changed its name.
After 35 years of steady growth and notable successes, the Hampshire Educational Collaborative has changed its name. We are now the Collaborative for Educational Services. You can call us by our full name – or C.E.S.—or the Collaborative.
This change reflects our growth as an organization that serves learners, educators, and communities in Franklin and Hampshire County—and beyond. While the name may be different, all our services, addresses, phone and fax numbers, email contacts, and URLs remain the same.
Our values
We know how to reach and educate the learner that is in everyone. We know how to teach other educators to do the same. The common thread through all our work is that obstacles to learning can be overcome, and once that happens, learning is natural for everyone.
Our environment
Especially now, in these times of tighter budgets and higher expectations for student achievement, educators, learners, and community partners must be ever more collaborative, resourceful and flexible in the ways that they work and learn. Success comes not from sticking with a winning formula, but from recognizing that our students and our world are constantly changing. The Collaborative helps educators to become more effective by working together to reflect and create school-wide solutions to their instructional challenges. We help districts collaborate with each other to put resources where they’re needed most: back in the classroom.
Our work
Just because we love collaboration doesn’t mean we don’t understand individual needs. Quite the opposite is true. We work with districts to assess their own data on students to design solutions that solve the challenges they face today. And we teach educators hands-on, classroom techniques that individualize instruction to build on each student’s strengths and overcome their unique learning challenges.
The Collaborative serves learners from birth through adulthood. We serve our public school district members in Franklin and Hampshire Counties, and educators in communities across Massachusetts.
Annual Reports
Our old name described who we first served. Our new name describes what we do.
